“When I was on maternity leave with my daughter, I kept her three year old sister home with me. She had never been in daycare, being under the care of her grandmother while I worked. Now that I was home with her, I found myself constantly looking for independent playgroups where I could drop her off and get her used to being a part of a group, participating in group activities, getting comfortable being away from her family and in the care of others etc. I quickly realized such a program was not easy to find.
This lead me to begin this little passion project of mine. As a former teacher myself, I understand the importance of developing certain social and cognitive skills prior to them beginning school, especially in those little ones who have never been exposed to daycare. La Petite École focuses on fostering their independence, developing basic literacy and numeracy skills, all while getting comfortable being part of a group. Through various activities, such as sensory play, crafts, music and of course gymnastics, we provide a wonderful learning experience, working closely with the parents to ensure a smooth transition for both parent and child.” - Véronique Lemay, Executive Director
