Good weekend at Eastern Canadian Championships
It was a good weekend for local Orleans gymnasts Paolo Nera, Julie Anne Fiset and Sophie Paquin, after some great performances at the Eastern Canadian Championships. The three athletes had earned the right to represent Team Ontario in Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and helped Ontario to some great finishes in Quebec City.
Julie Anne Fiset, who is in her first year competing in the Canadian Pre-Novice Elite program, was 5th place all around, taking a gold medal on the Beam and the second position on the Ontario team, which placed second as a team.
Paolo Nera, who had a strong year in Ontario, took the day in stride. He placed 4th All Around with a silver medal on Rings and a bronze on Floor. Team Ontario took the second place award.
Sophie Paquin helped her team to a gold medal team finish after a strong competition earning a bronze medal for herself in the all around and a bronze on Vault and Floor.
This was the last competition of the year for these gymnasts and marks the start of preparations for the year to come.

May Long Weekend reminders
Just a reminder that Tumblers will be open on Saturday and Sunday, May 20th and 21, with regularly scheduled recreational classes. We are closed however for the holiday Monday.
